here is a place where you can post questions or comments about various issues that we may not be delving into enough for your curious minds.

instead of just emailing me a question and getting a personal response, i would like for these issues to be made public, chances are 3 other people have the same exact question.

i would like each of you to make at least 3 posts a week. this will be part of your class participation grade, as further discussion is vital to your complete understanding of 2000 years worth of art history.

Society takes what it wants. The artist himself does not count, because there is no actual existence for the work of art. The work of art is always based on the two poles of the onlooker and the maker, and the spark that comes from the bipolar action gives birth to something - like electricity. But the onlooker has the last word, and it is always posterity that makes the masterpiece. The artist should not concern himself with this, because it has nothing to do with him.
